Chattanooga Saunders
The Chattanooga Saunders Cervical Traction Device is a clinical cervical traction applicator that pulls at the base of the occiput when it is attached to a Chattanooga traction unit. It is a head pad, a neck carriage running on a low-friction track, a pair of neck wedges and a head strap. The pull comes from the traction unit and is taken at the back of the head. No chin halter is used, and nothing loads the jaw. The clevis that couples it to the head is included, and it comes in three mounting versions: TX 1-7, TRUE-EZE and TRITON.
It works with a Chattanooga traction head and a table with a traction pedestal, both sold separately, and it is also known as the Clinical Cervical Traction System.
The applicator
The wedge position, the mounting and the height of the table pedestal decide how the pull reaches the patient.
Saunders clinical
A Saunders clinical device stays on the traction table between patients, with one carriage for every setup and its clevis supplied.
The Saunders range
The clinical cervical device mounts to a powered traction head such as the TX Traction Unit. The Saunders Lumbar Traction Device is a self-contained home unit worked from a hand pump.
Questions
No. It is the cervical applicator that a traction machine pulls on. It has no motor, no gauge and no controls. A Chattanooga TX Traction Unit or Triton Traction Unit generates and regulates the force, and this device carries it to the patient's head.
Triton, TX, and TX with TX Bracket variants for older models, and a simplified attachment through clevis attachment slots for newer ones. It comes in three mounting versions, TX 1-7, TRUE-EZE and TRITON, each matching its own head. It carries the pull from a TX Traction Unit or a Triton Traction Unit on a Galaxy TTET-300, Galaxy TTET-400, Triton 6M or Triton 6E traction table.
The head pad, the neck carriage on its low-friction track, a pair of neck wedges, the head strap and the clevis attachment, with the instructions for use. The traction head, the traction cord and the table are sold separately.
Patient fit is one size fits most. The head strap and the neck carriage take up the difference between one patient and the next, and the wedges are positioned to each patient at the mid-cervical region.
Mount it to the powered traction head through the clevis, set the neck wedges, fit the head strap, and set force, hold and rest on the traction unit doing the pulling. The Patient Interrupt Switch on the traction unit must be in the patient's grasp throughout the traction therapy.
Yes. It ships inside the TX Traction Kits, inside the TX kit that carries knee bolsters in place of the flexion stool, and inside the Triton DTS Advanced Accessory Package. The Triton DTS Basic package is the DTS unit, the QuikWrap belting and a pair of knee bolsters, and this device with the Stabilizer pressure biofeedback unit makes up the whole difference between Basic and Advanced.
No. The Saunders Cervical Traction Device with Case is a self-contained pneumatic unit with its own hand pump, gauge and carry case, built for home use. This clinical device has no pump and no gauge and mounts to a powered traction head through its clevis.
Traction is contraindicated for a list that includes structural disease from tumor or infection, vascular compromise, acute strains, sprains, inflammation, joint instability, pregnancy, osteoporosis, hiatus hernia, claustrophobia, and cardiac or pulmonary problems. The full contraindication and warning list ships with the traction unit that pulls the applicator.
