Deep, Powerful Massage
The sixth-generation Prime is the plain-spoken Theragun. One button, five speeds, two attachments, and a 16mm percussive stroke, which is the deepest figure Therabody quotes anywhere in the range. There is no heat head and no attachment ecosystem to buy into. What you get is the deep stroke and a body built to survive being thrown in a gym bag.
The one piece of feedback the Prime does give you is pressure. A live pressure display on the back of the handle lights up as you lean in, so you can hold a consistent amount of force on a muscle and repeat it next time. Therabody rates the battery at 120 minutes, measured at the lowest speed setting, and calls this its most durable Theragun to date.
Key Features
Depth, feedback, durability and a phone connection you can ignore. The Prime spends its engineering on the parts of a massage gun you use every day.
Everyday Use
Therabody publishes a short benefits list for the Prime under that heading. Below are the physical features that list is built on, each one checkable against the specification.
Up Close
The entire interface is a single button and a strip of LEDs. Press to start, press again to step through the five speeds. While the motor runs, the LED bank shows how much pressure you are applying, which gives you a number where you would otherwise be working from feel. Two hours of runtime on a charge means most people charge it weekly.
The Prime is wrapped in an impact-resistant rubber exterior with reinforced corners. Therabody's patented triangle grip is the other half of the design: three hand positions on one handle, which is how a single person reaches their own mid-back and the back of a shoulder. At 32 oz, or 907 g, it has enough mass to press into a large muscle without your arm doing all the work.
The Prime ships with the Standard Ball and the Dampener. The Standard Ball is the general-purpose head for quads, glutes, hamstrings and lats. The Dampener is the soft head for anywhere bony or tender, where a 16mm stroke through a hard head would be too much. Between them they cover most of the body, which is why Therabody describes them as versatile enough for muscles of all sizes and sensitivities.

"First and foremost - Recovery For Athletes is an amazing business. I can't wait to buy from them again. As for the product 4/5 stars. More than enough power for our athletic family. I just wish it were a little quieter. I like using this while watching TV at night, and you really have to crank up the volume to hear it properly."
